Q: Can I publish the same paper in different languages?

Detailed Question -

I am Brazilian and I would like to publish the same paper in both Portuguese and English; the Portuguese one in a Brazilian journal and the English one in an international journal. Is it possible?

1 Answer to this question
Answer:

If the same paper is submitted to 2 different journals, even in different languages, this can be considered as a case of duplicate publication if detected before publication. If such a case of simultaneous submission is detected after publication, one or both of your published papers may be retracted. Retraction due to academic misconduct will have a detrimental effect on your reputation. In extreme cases, your publication in that journal may also be stalled for 3-5 years.

The ideal way would be to wait till one of the articles is published and then publish a translated version of the same article as a secondary publication, with the permission of the editors of both journals.
