Editage conducts workshops on research writing in academic institutions in Lucknow

Editage recently conducted a series of workshops on March 6th and 7th on research writing at King George’s Medical University, Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences, and Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants in Lucknow. The workshops were attended by a total of 210 participants (50, 90, and 70 attendees, respectively).

The workshop series was led by Yateendra Joshi, Academic Publishing Trainer, Editage; and Sharang Kolwalkar, Managing Editor, Impact Science, Research Communication Services. The trainers interacted with the students, faculty members, and research scholars.

Since understanding the nuances of academic writing are important for researchers to get published, academic writing was one of the focal areas of the workshop series. Apart from this, the workshops also covered important aspects around research integrity and science communication. In short, the following topics were covered:

  • Writing and structuring a research manuscript
  • Communicating science effectively
  • Avoiding retractions and publishing ethically

The main intent of the trainers was to ensure that the attendees received as much information and guidance as possible to maximize their chances of success. The interactive sessions allowed attendees to get their questions and concerns answered by Yateendra and Sharang. The feedback was extremely positive as the participants felt the workshops added to their knowledge. They were appreciative of the trainers who guided them on several important aspects related to academic publishing and science communication. They expressed the desire for such workshops to be more frequent.
