Q: Editor assigned remains the same while the date has been updated
Detailed Question -
Greetings, I had submitted a manuscript to a Springer journal on 15th June. After one week, on 21st June, the status was updated and an editor was assigned. Yesterday, on 28th June, the date was updated but the submission status remained the same, 'editor assigned'. What does that mean? Is the manuscript going to get a desk rejection? Has the editor changed? The submission to first decision is 20 days (median). Thanks!!!

Answer:
Dear Author,
Thank you for your question. In this case, it seems that the editor who is performing the peer review changed, which was reflected via a change in the date. I would recommend waiting for 3-4 weeks and then re-checking the status.
