Q: How can I improve my manuscript's chances that has been rejected by four journals?

Detailed Question -

I have sent my manuscript to four different journals in five years. In each journal, I have made the majority of changes suggested by the reviewers. Every time I sent the improved manuscript to a new journal, the reviewers would always look for mistakes in English language and experimental methodology in my manuscript and reject it. All the authors of this paper are Mexican researchers. I'm wondering if this could be because of the nationality of the authors.

I have spent a lot of money and got the paper edited for language with three different English Editing services before I sent my manuscript and the reviewers told me "The English expression (e.g. grammar, spelling, sentence structure, punctuation) is poor throughout the manuscript and is completely unacceptable for publication in this journal".

Ideally, the peer review process should be free of bias. Authors from many non-English speaking countries get their papers published in international English language journals. Even if one or two reviewers have a bias, this does not explain why your paper has been rejected by four different journals.

Perhaps, you can write to the editor and tell him/her that you have already had your manuscript edited by a professional language editing service. You can question the editor's comments and request him/her to point out specific errors in the manuscript. You can then make the necessary changes and submit the paper to another journal.

Don't be disheartened. Rejection is a natural part of the academic publication process. I can understand that multiple rejections can be frustrating, but don't lose hope. Once you identify the problem with the manuscript, you can hopefully improve it and make it publication worthy.
