Q: How can I select a journal for a paper that lacks novelty?

Detailed Question -

I have one paper about biochar adsorption of heavy metals under different pyrolysis temperature. Novelty is not very high, data is not good. I want to publish in an SCI indexed journal with around IF 1 before June. Please suggest some journal.

Answer:

If the paper lacks novelty and the data is not strong enough, it might be difficult to get it published in a journal as it might get rejected during peer review. I think it might be better if you consider publishing it as a Letter to the Editor. These are short articles and do not need details. You can just focus on whatever little novelty your study has. Moreover, letters are generally not peer reviewed, hence the chances of getting rejected by reviewers is less.

However, if you wish to publish it as a full-fledged original article, you might consider highlighting the novelty of your study. The links provided below will help you understand how you can do that.

I cannot really recommend a specific journal for you. You can look at journals in your field with IF1 and send pre-submission inquiries to a few of them. You can then submit to the one that seems to be interested.
