Q: How to find the journals which publish letters/rapid communications?

Detailed Question -

I am currently writing a manuscript about clinical research, but it is inseparable in terms of content to make it an original article. So I am considering submitting it as a short communication or a letter. The content is a study of predictors of the therapeutic effect of eribulin on metastatic and recurrent breast cancer. Currently, I'm wondering which journal to submit. Would you tell me the journals that accept letter/rapid communication, other than predatory journals?

Answer:

We understand that choosing the right journal for publication can be a challenge. While selecting an appropriate journal for your manuscript, the following points can be kept in mind:

  1. Ensure your indexation preference – SCI/SCIE/SSCI/ESCI/PubMed/Scopus etc. You can refer to http://mjl.clarivate.com/ to determine the indexation of SCI/SCIE/SSCI/ESCI and https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nlmcatalog/journals to determine PubMed indexation.
  2. Make a list of available journals in your subject area and survey the type of articles published in them. You can also use journal selection tools such as Elsevier Journal Finder or Springer Journal Suggester.
  3. Make a list of journals with a suitable impact factor range.
  4. Make sure the aims/scope of the journals match that of your study.
  5. Check for the types of articles published by the journals.
  6. Check all the other aspects of the journal such as peer-review process, instructions to authors, open access options, audience/readership of the journal, information about the publisher, time for peer review, acceptance/rejection rates etc.
  7. Then, make a final list of the journals that meet all your criteria, prepare your manuscript according to the author guidelines and submit the manuscript.
