Q: I sent an article to Emerald on February 10, 2023. 3 days later the status changed to "awaiting referee selection". After 5 days, changed to "awaiting ED decision", is this marked good or bad?

Answer:
Thank you for your question. The change in the status is neither good nor bad. This link (https://www.emeraldgrouppublishing.com/how-to/how-guides-reviewers/peer-review-hub/understand-peer-review-process) outlines the peer review process for Emerald journals. The status change from “awaiting referee selection” to “awaiting ED decision” means that peer reviewers were selected to review your manuscript and have sent their comments to the journal editor, who will now have to take the final decision on your manuscript (Accept, Revise, or Reject).
