Q: Is there a list of subscription-based journals available?

Detailed Question -

Due to a lack of funding, I am looking to submit to journals that offer the subscription-based model. Is there a list that shows which journals offer which type of publishing model?

Answer:

Unfortunately, there isn’t. You will simply have to look up a database such as Web of Science Group’s Master Journal List (MJL) or Scimago Journal and Country Rank (SJR), using a filter to remove the open access (OA) options. Alternatively, you may look up various publishers’ databases, again using the right filters. In these searches, especially through a search engine, take care to ensure you aren’t submitting to a predatory journal. Coming to the issue of funding, as you may know, many OA journals provide a waiver on their article processing charges (APCs), though this may be limited to certain geographies. Additionally, you may consider approaching your institute (if you have an affiliation and are not an independent researcher), unless that is really not an option.
