Q: Why was my manuscript sent to peer reviewers twice?

Detailed Question -

Hi friends,

My article is submitted to a Nature journal and has the following status:

Manuscript Submitted 11th November 18

Manuscript Assigned to Editor 15th November 18

Manuscript Assigned to Peer-Reviewer/s 29th November 18

Manuscript Assigned to Editor 17th December 18

Manuscript Assigned to Peer-Reviewer/s 21st December 18

Decision Started: 21st December 18

Since the manuscript went to reviewers twice before reaching me for comments/revision, should I be concerned?

Answer:

It is not uncommon for a manuscript to be sent for two rounds of peer review before the editor can arrive at a decision. This usually happens if the reviewer comments from the first round of peer review are weak or conflicting. In such cases, the editor generally sends the paper out for an additional review. So I don't think you have anything to worry about. The manuscript is making steady progress, and hopefully, you will receive a decision soon. Good luck!
