Announcing the 2016 Asian Conference of the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors - (Events)

The 2016 Asian Conference of the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE) will be held on April 4-5 in Singapore. The conference, themed "Best Practices in Scholarly Publishing", promises to be very engaging and informative for editors, peer reviewers, and various journal and publisher representatives.

The agenda includes talks and panel discussions involving eminent speakers and innovators in the academic publishing industry. The topics include some of the most widely discussed issues in the industry:

  • Best practices in peer review
  • The role of editors in publication ethics
  • Evolving research metrics and measures of impact
  • The changing landscape of open access
  • New technology platforms for researchers and publishers, and
  • Resources for scholarly publishing.

The conference will also offer plenty of opportunity for discussion and networking over poster sessions and reception dinners.

Editage works with and supports ISMTE in its mission of providing useful resources to editors and scholarly publishers, and helps these resources reach a wide audience. To this end, every month, Editage Insights translates into Simplified Chinese the Editor's Choice article from the ISMTE monthly newsletter Editorial Office News (EON). The translated articles are shared by ISMTE and Editage so that many editors and publication professionals in China can benefit from them.

Editage is also a sponsor and presenter at the 2016 Asian Conference. Donald Samulack, President of US Operations at Editage, will be moderating and speaking at a panel forum on publication services for authors. This session aims to educate journals and publishers about how they can better support authors. The discussion will touch upon the various types of editing and publication support services available to authors, author education channels, and other initiatives that help authors follow good publication practices.
