Q: The status has been with editor since a long time

I have submitted the revised manuscript in the one of the top journals of Elsevier. The status has been with editor since a month. What does it mean? Is it still with the editor?

Thank you for reaching out to us. "With editor" stage indicates that your paper has not yet been sent for peer review. As per the normal journal processes, the editor first conducts an initial screening of the manuscript. Your manuscript could likely still be in the screening stage.

It’s possible that the editor has not yet found reviewers for your paper. We would recommend waiting for a week or so. If the status remains the same after that, you may consider writing to the journal editor.
