Q: What does the status "The reviewer is revoked from peer-review" mean?
In December 2020, I submitted a paper to Frontiers. One reviewer have endorsed the publication, however, another reviewer showed "revoked" in the Frontier interactive review table. Is the right of review cancled because the too long response from the revoked reviewer? What will happen next?
Yes, it means that said reviewer has been excluded from peer review of your manuscript. As per your contemplation, it could be because of delay at their end in returning the review report within set duration. There is a possibility that the handling editor (if has similar field expertise) themselves will review your paper or invite an additional reviewer before making a final decision. If this status has been pending for long, you may consider writing to the journal editor requesting the current status.
