Q: What does Under Review mean for one comment minor revision?

Detailed Question -

I got a major revision (one reviewer with minor while second almost rejected it) after submitting paper to renowned journal. After submitting major revision, I got minor revision with only one comment from editor, while one reviewer accepted it (it was not sent to second reviewer). I submitted the minor revision on the same day, status was with editor for 6 days but now its two weeks the status changed to Under Review. What does this mean now? As it was just one comment minor change asked by the Editor. Is it again under review with new reviewer or editor and how much acceptance chances?

Answer:

Thank you for this question. Some journals do have a policy of sending revised files back to the same reviewer for the final nod after the author has made the revisions they requested. This is even more so if the revision made following their criticism was a technical one. In such cases, it’s common for the editor to send the file back to the reviewer for a final check before arriving at a decision. If you don’t hear back or see a status change after about another week, you can go ahead and reach out to the journal to inquire about the status.
