Q: What should I do if my paper got accepted but the editor doesn't respond to my queries?

Detailed Question -

My paper got accepted and I was asked to pay fees directly to a given foreign account. I don't have a foreign currency account nor a debit card to transfer the money. What should I do now? I'm not getting any response from the editor after telling them my issue.

Answer:

If I understand correctly, the journal you submitted will publish your article open access and hence is charging an APC(Article Processing Charge).

Usually if the journal is reputable, they will provide all the details of the APC in their website clearly.

You can contact the Publishing team as they are the best one to answer your question.

The Editor can't do anything here as his/her work is only to sent to manuscript to peer-review and decide if the paper will be accepted/rejected.

You will find all the details of the Publisher in the journal homepage and an active email address will  be provided there so that you can contact them.

You will be asked to provide an equivalent amount after conversion. For example if the APC is 100$(dollars) and you are in India then you will need to provide 100*75=Rs 7500(approx).

Hope this helps.

To add to what Amit has said, this seems like a predatory journal/publisher. For ways to identify a predatory journal, refer to this resource: 10 Point checklist to identify predatory publishers

Our suggestion would be to withdraw your paper from this journal and submit elsewhere. However, when sending the withdrawal request, don’t let them know that you believe/suspect they are a bogus journal. Otherwise, their coercive tactics will get worse. For ways to deal with a bogus journal, you may refer to this resource: How do I deal with these coercive tactics by a predatory journal?

Finally, for points to keep in mind for selecting the right journal, you may refer to this resource: How to choose journals for submitting your paper

Hope that helps. All the best for the next steps!
