Q: Will asking about the status of the manuscript hurt my chances of publication?
The status of my paper has been 'Awaiting EiC decision' for over 10 days (after about 8 weeks of peer review). When the status changed I got an email saying that I would deceive a decision letter "in due course" and that I could contact them if I had any queries ... should I ask what's taking them so long? Or will that hurt my chances of receiving an acceptance? Is it a bad sign that it's been at that stage for so long?
Dear Author,
Thank you for writing to us.
Inquiring about the manuscript status with the journal editorial staff does not have any impact on the Editor’s/ reviewer’s decision about the Manuscript acceptance.
We recommend you write to the Editor-in-Chief, to provide an update on the status of the manuscript as well the tentative timeline to receive a decision.
