All of the numbers in the infographic have been updated as of October 2017.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Open access policies and mandates are a direct indicator of the extent to which scientific research is embracing the concept of open access. Since it&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.editage.com\/insights\/join-editage-insights-in-celebrating-the-10th-international-open-access-week-2017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Open Access Week<\/a>, we\u00a0decided to revisit open access policies and mandates across the globe and check whether they have increased in number since 2016. We looked at the <a href=\"http:\/\/roarmap.eprints.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Registry of Open Access Repository Mandates and Policies (ROARMAP) database<\/a> to extract the numbers and to check how many funders or research instutitions across the globe have actually implemented open access policies and\/or mandates. It seems that research organizatons and funders are still keen on nudging researchers to make their research\/data publicly available and accessible. This is evident from the ever-increasing number of open access policies and mandates. The data plotted in this infographic has been retrieved from the ROARMAP database.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Feel free to download, share, or distribute.
