Every year, the scholarly community celebrates Open Access Week (also known as OA Week), a global event organized annually by the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition<\/a> (SPARC). The intention of OA Week is to make research more open, improve the visibility of scholarship, and accelerate research. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The event has a different theme every year to create awareness about a certain aspect of open access. The theme for OA Week 2018 is \u201cdesigning equitable foundations for open knowledge<\/b>,\u201d which according to the OA Week website<\/a> \u201creflects a scholarly system in transition.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

From October 22-28, OA Week will inspire the participation of individuals, institutions, and organizations across the globe in the form of various events such as workshops, presentations, seminars, conferences, discussions, etc.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
