Simultaneously, the World Health Organization (WHO) published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/who-documents-detail\/a-coordinated-global-research-roadmap\" style=\"color:blue; text-decoration:underline\">a global research roadmap<\/a> for COVID-19. This document highlighted knowledge gaps and drew up timelines for the implementation of specific research actions.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\">Ever since, thousands of articles on various research topics related to COVID-19 have been published open access after peer review or made available in preprint servers. The volume of research literature on COVID-19 has been reported to be <a href=\"https:\/\/qz.com\/1834521\/scientific-papers-on-novel-coronavirus-doubling-every-14-days\/\" style=\"color:blue; text-decoration:underline\">doubling<\/a> every two weeks. This is an extraordinary feat considering that SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 were unknown just a few months back.
