And quickly.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">My institution, the University of Oregon, like many others had to make some rapid calls about the move to online instruction.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Although I had some experience of creating materials for online courses, there is a big difference between contributing a few pieces to a\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:black\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/blogs\/collegeofjournalism\/entries\/95084099-7075-3f2f-b0cc-4d3f5ae6b96e\" style=\"color:blue; text-decoration:underline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:black\"><span style=\"text-decoration:none\"><span style=\"text-underline:none\">MOOC<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\"> (massive open online course), and delivering 3 x 10-week classes \u2014 at short notice \u2014 to a cohort which is both unsettled, and skeptical of the value\/quality of teaching you might provide.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">That many of these students had yet to take a class with me before, was also a factor. They didn\u2019t know me. And I didn\u2019t know them.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">The learning curve was going to be steep. It still is.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Nonetheless, I am pleasantly surprised with how things have gone, and as we rapidly approach the end of term, it\u2019s a good opportunity to pause and reflect on the experience.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">With that in mind, here are nine key things that I have learned so far:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><b><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.25pt\">1) You cannot just replicate what you do IRL<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">I knew this, intellectually. But, I didn\u2019t\u00a0<i>really<\/i>\u00a0know this until term started.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:blue\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/worklife\/article\/20200421-why-zoom-video-chats-are-so-exhausting\" style=\"color:blue; text-decoration:underline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration:none\"><span style=\"text-underline:none\">Zoom is exhausting<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">. Especially if you\u2019re the host, staring unblinking at a screen, trying to pick up on visual cues, and unable to look away, lest you look disinterested or bored. We just don\u2019t engage like that in real life.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Typical classroom lectures don\u2019t work either. Fortunately, I tend to only teach small classes, and I\u2019m not the lecturing type. I may do a few a term, but they\u2019re really discussions with slides + examples.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><b><i><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Tip: Break lectures up into a series of online quizzes \u2014 with questions after every 5\u201310 mins of presentation.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><b><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.25pt\">2) There is a value to hosting live classes<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">I continue to conduct most classes live. We don\u2019t meet for the full scheduled duration (1 hour 50 mins), but will connect for 60\u201390 mins, with the rest of the class materials available for students to pursue at their own pace.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Several students have commented that I am the only instructor they have doing this. In some cases, my class(es) are the only ones they have with any live elements\u00a0<i>at all<\/i>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">At a time when<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:blue\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/nation\/2020\/04\/17\/what-day-today-amid-coronavirus-pandemic-people-not-sure\/5152593002\/\" style=\"color:blue; text-decoration:underline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration:none\"><span style=\"text-underline:none\">\u00a0all the days feel the same<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">, many students also tell me how valuable this is. For some, it is the only fixed point in their weekly calendar.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Especially for students living alone, it not only helps to create some routine, but also a sense of community.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><b><i><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Tip: If you have live classes, try to keep them under an hour. Whatever their age.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Lack of broadband access, coupled with the closure of coffee shops and many public spaces \u2014 making it difficult to access free Wi-Fi \u2014 and the fact that online learning can quickly chow through your expensive data plan; are all considerations that instructors need to be cognizant of.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Heck, my internet connection even slows down when it rains, which can be a real challenge given the climate in much of Oregon!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Alongside this, I have students who have jobs that clash with class \u2014 and in the current climate I\u2019m not going to tell them to cut their job, I\u2019m going to make sure they can catch class later.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Moreover, mental health considerations may also make it harder for students to show-up, even online, on a regular basis. Flexibility with attendance, especially right now, is therefore vital.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><b><i><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Tip: Record your Zoom classes, so if a student cannot join you, they can catch-up later. Be sure to record + share, the audio, as well as video, version of the class. We need to work smarter. Not harder.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><b><i><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Tip: There\u2019s only so much you can automate. Clear instructions and delivery dates for work are more important than ever. However, there may be some ways (see below) to reduce some time-consuming work, without compromising on the value to students.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><b><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.25pt\">8) Finding different ways to give feedback<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Given how much time my initial efforts were taking, I knew I needed to do things differently.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Although I believe this level of engagement \u2014 responding to everything being posted \u2014 was important to show that comments were valued, and that none of this was \u201cbusy work,\u201d my methods were unsustainable.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">At first, I decided to step back from responding to every student comment. Instead, I tried to offer a written summary at the end of each discussion, after all of the student contributions had been posted.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Then I switched this to a video reflection for a discussion, and later switching to a video reflection for the whole class.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">However, I quickly ascertained from students that they weren\u2019t watching them, and that their preference was to cover this in our conversation at the start of the first class of the week. Much easier!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><b><i><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Tip: When it comes to assignments, I\u2019ve also moved away from written feedback, unless it\u2019s necessary (e.g. long-form reporting pieces).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><b><i><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Instead, I\u2019ve held 15x minute 1\u20131 feedback sessions on Zoom, and\/or switched to top-line audio feedback on many graded assignments; which uploads quickly to our LMS. Both of these feel more personal, which is especially important when you\u2019re working with students remotely.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><b><i><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Canvas, our LMS, has a video feedback function. But I find a huge time-lag on uploading these, and that they sometimes crash Canvas, or that they disappear altogether. That\u2019s frustrating when a 4\u20135 minute piece to camera is lost. Audio uploads very quickly; and hasn\u2019t crashed yet!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><b><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.25pt\">9. After capturing the sound of it being consumed, along with a verbal description of the item \u2014 without mentioning what it was \u2014 they had to post this audio clip on a discussion board. The rest of us had to guess the item in question. TlDR; a modern-day parlor game for the pandemic age.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:8.0pt; margin:0in 0in 10pt\"><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"line-height:115%\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:#292929\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:-.05pt\">Every student in this class also selects a podcast episode for us to listen to and critique. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t feel like homework,\u201d the students often say.
