Lack of familiarity with or understanding of the open access publishing model may prevent researchers from publishing critical research open access. International Open Access Week is an excellent time to address this gap.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In this video, I am in conversation with two industry experts from Brill\u2014a leading international academic publisher. I ask Stephanie Veldman (Head of Open Research, Brill) and Dominique De Roo (Vice President, Global Marketing, Brill) about the benefits researchers can experience when they publish their work open access, the challenge of covering article-processing charges, the role of open access books, and geographical differences in the adoption of open access publishing models. Moreover, since this year\u2019s theme is Open for Climate Justice<\/i>, we also discuss how open access publishing can accelerate climate action.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Stephanie Veldman<\/b> is Head of Open Research at Brill. She is responsible for the strategic development of Brill\u2019s Open Research program. Open research and open access, in particular, are core to Brill\u2019s mission of maximizing the visibility and footprint of humanities and social sciences research. The program focuses on proactively supporting authors, libraries, and funders in a sustainable and equitable transition to open access.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dominique de Roo<\/b> is Vice President, Global Marketing, at Brill and manages Brill\u2019s CSR\/ESG program.
