My next question is for graphical abstracts.\u00a0 Today, graphical abstracts are very popular,<\/p>\n

0:12<\/p>\n

you know, with many journals either mandating\u00a0 it or recommending it. So what role do you<\/p>\n

0:17<\/p>\n

think graphical abstracts play today, and how\u00a0 do you think authors can effectively create,<\/p>\n

0:23<\/p>\n

such abstracts that can enhance, you\u00a0 know, their chances of acceptance or,<\/p>\n

0:29<\/p>\n

you know, just the outreach of\u00a0 their people? Yeah. Absolutely.<\/p>\n

0:33<\/p>\n

I mean, I’m I’m quite a big fan\u00a0 of, of graphical abstracts and and,<\/p>\n

0:36<\/p>\n

you know, different types of, infograph\u00a0 different ways of presenting information,<\/p>\n

0:40<\/p>\n

basically. And I think what’s really nice\u00a0 about, a graphical abstract is, first of all,<\/p>\n

0:47<\/p>\n

it gives you that really nice, snapshot of\u00a0 a piece of work. It it sort of summarizes<\/p>\n

0:52<\/p>\n

in a nice sort of straightforward infographic\u00a0 style, what the paper is about. And as we know,<\/p>\n

0:58<\/p>\n

people that are reading, articles are very\u00a0 time poor. I think there’s, you know, very few,<\/p>\n

1:04<\/p>\n

academics and researchers now that will\u00a0 sit down and read a journal cover to cover,<\/p>\n

1:08<\/p>\n

but they will look at abstracts and they will sort\u00a0 of look at conclusions and those kind of things.<\/p>\n

1:12<\/p>\n

And if you’ve got a graphical abstract in there,\u00a0 I think you’ve got a much better chance of,<\/p>\n

1:17<\/p>\n

that information sort of standing out and sticking\u00a0 with with the reader. The other great thing about,<\/p>\n

1:23<\/p>\n

graphical abstracts in particular is that they’re\u00a0 very good for, sharing on social media. So,<\/p>\n

1:30<\/p>\n

you know, whether it’s, x or LinkedIn or\u00a0 whatever else, it’s it’s nice to be able<\/p>\n

1:35<\/p>\n

to give that image, that graphical, interpretation\u00a0 of the work that’s been done, because, you know,<\/p>\n

1:43<\/p>\n

as we know, when we’re scrolling through social\u00a0 media, it’s it’s things that, that are more,<\/p>\n

1:48<\/p>\n

graphically led that that stand out to you.\u00a0 And I think that can really help. I think<\/p>\n

1:52<\/p>\n

there’s even been, you know, studies\u00a0 and so forth done about the usage of<\/p>\n

1:57<\/p>\n

papers that have graphical abstracts or,\u00a0 you know, different types of abstracts.<\/p>\n

2:00<\/p>\n

There’s sort of there’s other options as well, but\u00a0 thinking about graphical abstracts in particular,<\/p>\n

2:04<\/p>\n

improving the the readership of a particular\u00a0 article and the reach that it that it then<\/p>\n

2:09<\/p>\n

has because if people see it on social media,\u00a0 they share it with their colleagues and so on<\/p>\n

2:13<\/p>\n

and so forth. That being said, I think they\u00a0 they are a skill, to do, and I think a lot<\/p>\n

2:22<\/p>\n

of journals are now starting to either, as you\u00a0 say, mandate them or certainly, encourage them,<\/p>\n

2:28<\/p>\n

alongside a particular piece of work, might\u00a0 be that you want to, think about working with,<\/p>\n

2:35<\/p>\n

someone who’s got some experience, in creating\u00a0 them, or certainly having a look at ones that have<\/p>\n

2:40<\/p>\n

been published previously, particularly I suppose\u00a0 in the in the journal that you’re targeting with<\/p>\n

2:45<\/p>\n

your submission, to seek the kind of style, the\u00a0 format, how how to go about it because it can be,<\/p>\n

2:51<\/p>\n

you know, it’s hard enough to write I think the,\u00a0 the text abstract of an article and if you’re not<\/p>\n

2:56<\/p>\n

perhaps maybe graphically minded, to interpret\u00a0 that into it down into an infographic can be<\/p>\n

3:01<\/p>\n

quite challenging. So perhaps, you know, working\u00a0 with individuals that have a bit of experience in<\/p>\n

3:06<\/p>\n

that area could be, helpful, especially if it’s\u00a0 the first the first one that you’ve, you’ve done.<\/p>\n

3:12<\/p>\n

Yeah. The the quality can be quite varied from\u00a0 the from having received back the abstracts in<\/p>\n

3:17<\/p>\n

the past, the quality can be quite, variable.\u00a0 So I think, yeah, it’s just that some people are<\/p>\n

3:24<\/p>\n

less or more, comfortable with, you know,\u00a0 visual design and tech. Yeah. Absolutely.<\/p>\n

3:31<\/p>\n

I’m I’m a text person, so I would never I would I\u00a0 would definitely go work with somebody else to to<\/p>\n

3:35<\/p>\n

help me to do it. Right. And I think Editage\u00a0 also at at this point, I’ll just, like, quickly,<\/p>\n
