Cactus Communications offering pro bono services to promote research on the 2019 coronavirus outbreak

In light of the deadly coronavirus outbreak and the need for timely information, Cactus Communications has started offering pro bono author support and research promotion services to researchers studying the outbreak.

(Feb 12, 2020) The 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak, which was first identified in December 2019, has claimed over 900 lives, with the number of people infected touching 40,000 as of February 10, 2020. While Mainland China has been affected the most, isolated cases have been identified in around 27 countries.

Cactus Communications, a global scientific communications company, is offering pro bono author support and research communication services to authors researching the outbreak. Translation, editing, and artwork formatting services will be offered under its brand Editage, and infographics and research news stories will be offered under the brand Impact Science.

To qualify for these pro bono services, the research topic must relate to 2019 novel coronavirus; its origin and spread; remedial medication; health (physical and mental) conditions; and social, economic, political, and governmental outcomes.

Abhishek Goel, Co-founder and CEO of CACTUS, said, “At the time of this humanitarian crisis, it’s important for the science community and entities that support it to come together. CACTUS is committed to joining hands with researchers worldwide and to enable the spread of timely, accurate information related to the outbreak.”

Frank Xu, Managing Director, Greater China, adds, “It’s an all-hands-on-deck kind of situation. While things have pretty much come to a standstill in China, our employees are working from home to continue providing support to researchers. This initiative will help accelerate the spread of much-needed information not just in China, which is the epicenter of the outbreak, but the rest of the world and hopefully arrest the spread of damaging rumors.”
