Garima is presently working as a Research Associate in the division of Pharmacognosy & Ethnopharmacology, at CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute, India. Her area of specialization is traditional medicine with a major focus on seamless integration of traditional knowledge with state of the art science. She believes that exploring traditional knowledge can lead to a new era of drug development. During her doctoral work in the field of ethnopharmacology, she realized that “ethnobotanical process” for drug preparation is a very critical yet ignored part of ethnobotanical studies. She believes that her work, “Grilling increases the gastroprotective potential of Terminalia bellerica fruits- Validation of an “Ethnobotanical Process” (Uttarakhand, India)” is a step to understanding traditional medicine with a new perspective. The work has won her accolades in many countries. She was recently awarded the prestigious J.D. Hooker Award for her contributions in the field of traditional medicine.
