Q: How should we keep patients’ contact information?

Detailed Question -

In our medical research, we ask the patients for their contact information to carry out the administration work for their participation in the research. I'm wondering how to store the collected contact information. Other data used in researches is anonymized and stored at the research facility, but if personal information such as contact information is kept together, anonymization will not work. How should we manage personal information (like contact information) in such surveys?

Answer:

Thank you for your question. We would highly recommend preparing 2 copies of the data; one with the contact details of the patients which will be used for administrative purpose and a second copy of the data which will be anonymized that can be used for your research purpose.
