Bio
For the love of science and research, I left my permanent job in a public sector bank after six years of service to pursue a doctorate in biology or life science. Now I've studied small extracellular vesicles, trying to figure out how they may help cells communicate during stress. I ended up elucidating the differences in the molecular cargo that these vesicles carry when the cells they originate from are given heat-shock stress that may cause proteins in the cell to denature. This study was under the larger ambit of protein homeostasis - the main focus of my host lab. Throughout the duration of the PhD it became clearer that I have a knack of making scientific concepts easy to understand to any person, which I used in the outreach activities on campus, and then, in writing. I am extremely interested in genetics, neuroscience, and psychology as well. I support equal rights, inclusivity, diversity and good mental health practices and believe that empathy-driven rigorous science has the power to change the world.
