Bio
Being passionate about human diseases isn't exactly the kind of passion that is usually appreciated! Well, that's me - perpetually curious about diseases and syndromes, digging for the rare ones and in awe of the ingenuity of human viruses. Inspiration for research in the field of virology stemmed from this passion. My doctoral research provided me with ample opportunities to connect with like minded people and fueled my appetite for knowledge in this field even more.
I am trained in biosafety practices and have been involved in sample processing and molecular diagnosis of influenza and rabies. My work has also required me to learn and follow WHO protocols for sample collection and transportation of influenza samples. Project designing, management and mentoring short term research interns also formed an integral part of my work. Teaching and training students in the field of biotechnology, molecular biology, immunology and virology is my passion and I continue to indulge in it as and when opportunity presents itself. All of these have always been great learning opportunities because teaching is by far the most effective way to learn.
Science communication and writing has always fascinated me as a powerful tool which when used appropriately can unleash the potential of inspiring passion for science in inquisitive minds. Reading, science writing, teaching and inspiring research is what I love doing and hope to continue getting opportunities for the same!
