Graduate school is an extremely stressful and challenging time, and graduate students often report feeling overwhelmed, isolated, and depressed. Q started her blog (queenofthebench.tumblr.com) as a way to document her journey through graduate school, and to connect with other students who were going through the same process. She prefers to keep her anonymity, as it allows her to freely share her thoughts and experiences on a wide variety of topics ranging from daily life as a grad student, to bigger issues like mental health, lab dynamics, and being a woman in science. She hopes that her blog can serve as a place for other graduate students to find comfort, support, and a realization that they are not alone. When she's not in the lab (it DOES happen), Q enjoys hiking, camping, video games, and playing D&D with friends.
