Looking to prepare a thesis proposal? Watch this video to know the outline of a thesis proposal and learn what you should include in it!
A thesis proposal essentially presents an outline of your proposed project:
- Define a clear question and explain how you intend to answer it.
- Highlight the novelty or significance of your project.
- Clarify how it contributes to existing literature.
Another crucial aspect is to convince your supervisor that you are the right person to undertake the project!
The format of a thesis proposal often depends on your university’s requirements and supervisor’s guidelines. Nevertheless, here are some standard rules to keep in mind when you format a thesis proposal:
- A thesis proposal is about 3,000 words long.
- Its structure should be like other forms of academic writing: Include an introduction, a literature review, the main research questions, the hypothesis outlining the study objectives, the methodology you intend to follow, the expected outcome, and the significance/contribution.
- Always mention a tentative time frame for the project and how you plan to work within that time frame.
