Answer:

A research paper is based on primary data: the authors collect that data (via surveys, experiments, etc.), analyze it, and report it. A review paper is based on secondary data: the authors review other published studies and identify themes and trends among them to give an overall picture of research on a particular topic. The table below can explain this further

Aspect Research Paper Review Paper
Purpose Presents original findings from a new study or experiment Summarizes, evaluates, and synthesizes existing research on a topic
Data Source Uses primary data collected by the authors Uses previously published studies and secondary sources
Structure Typically includes Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion (IMRAD) Usually includes Introduction, thematic discussion, and conclusions about trends or gaps
Main Contribution Adds new knowledge or evidence to the field Provides an overview of current knowledge and identifies patterns, debates, or research gaps
Example A clinical study testing the effectiveness of a new cancer therapy A paper reviewing multiple studies on cancer therapies published over the past decade

Answer:

Hi everyone. I am a new here. I think that a research paper is a piece of academic writing based on its author's original research on a particular topic. It can be either a term paper, a masters thesis or a doctoral dissertation. And a review article is an article that summarizes the current state of understanding on a topic.
