Editage is proud to co-sponsor the 2nd Annual Asian-Pacific conference organized by the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors

(March 15, 2017; Shanghai, China) The 2nd Annual Asian-Pacific conference organized by the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE) is taking place on March 27 and 28, 2017 at the Kempinski Hotel in Beijing. Editage is proud to co-sponsor this conference and believes that such activities help bridge the communication gap between the East and the West. In addition to co-sponsoring the event, Editage will be displaying its wide range of author services at a booth in the exhibition area. The Annual Asian-Pacific conference not only facilitates networking opportunities, but also helps journals stay current with best practices, resources, and policy guidelines. The ISMTE conference will be preceded by a full-day seminar conducted by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) on Sunday, March 26, 2017.

The 2-day ISMTE conference includes some excellent sessions that will be conducted by an elite panel of speakers. The keynote session will be offered by David Sampson, Vice President and Publisher, American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Other prominent speakers include Tom Olijhoek, Editor-in-Chief, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ); Tom Merriweather, Executive Publisher, Medicine and LifeSciences, SAGE Publications; Jason Hu, Associate Director, Editorial Development, Wiley; Dr. Yan Shuai, Associate Editor-in-Chief, Tsinghua University Press; Dr. Shengli Ren, Vice President & Secretary General, China Editology Society for Science Periodicals (CESSP); and Hong Xiao, Vice General Manager & Deputy Editor-in-Chief, China Academic Journal Electronic Publishing House Co. Ltd. (CNKI). Donald Samulack, President of U.S. Operations, Editage, will be moderating and presenting in a session titled ‘Scrutinizing the manuscript: is it acceptable for publication’ on March 28th, with Jing Duan, Managing Editor, Acta Ecologica Sinica, and Helen (Yuehong) Zhang, Chief Editor, Journals of Zhejiang University Science A/B/C.

When asked about his participation in this conference, Dr. Samulack stated, “Editage is proud to collaborate with ISMTE in organizing a must-attend event for every journal editor and publisher. In order for the scholarly publications industry to evolve, it is essential for editorial offices from around the world to be talking with each other. Our eventual goal of bridging the gap between Eastern and Western publishing practices seems a step closer with every such conference.”

Historically, research from Asian countries has been pioneering in many fields. To sustain their rich research heritage, countries like China, Japan, and South Korea have invested heavily in research and development. As the research output from Asia increases, journals and publishers need to stay abreast with the latest trends and practices in the industry. ISMTE’s 2nd Asian-Pacific conference presents the perfect opportunity for journals and publishers from Asia to connect with their Western counterparts and share knowledge surrounding best practices and resources. Editage encourages managing editors, technical editors, and publication professionals to register for the conference and participate in its many valuable sessions.
