Better gut bacteria can increase lifespan
In a new study, scientists managed to increase the lifespan of a genus of small flies by altering the symbiotic relationship between bacteria and the cells lining the intestine. The study explored age-related changes in the gut, and the findings support the long-standing theory that having the right balance of gut bacteria may be key to enjoying a long healthy life.
