Q: Can I use more references from domestic publications than international ones?
In my current research paper that I plan to submit to PLOS ONE, I have used lots of references from research papers published in domestic journals. I have to say the references from domestic published researches have been used much more than internationally published ones. Is any possibility that y paper might get rejected for this reason?
If your research topic is very broad and a lot of research on it has been conducted globally (for example, ovarian cancer), then it is important to have a good balance of references from both domestic and international publications.
However, if the topic of your study is specific to a particular region and is not a very widely researched topic internationally, then it should be fine to use more of domestic research papers as references. However, you need to ensure that the references that you have used are relatively recent and have received a reasonable number of citations.
