Video: A Checklist to Review Introduction and Methods Sections Before Paper Submission

VIDEOS New

The Introduction and Methods sections are both crucial for a research manuscript. When you do a final review, what do you need to check in these sections to make sure that nothing is missed? In this video, our expert Bonnie Dixon gives you a practical checklist that you can use to make those final checks.

For the Introduction section:

  • Is the background of the study clear?
  • Is the study purpose stated?
  • Is the hypothesis clarified sufficiently?

For the Methods section:

  • Is the Methods section organized logically?
  • Is the study design explained?
  • Are the inclusion and exclusion criteria described?
  • Are the details of the experiment sufficient for other to replicate your analysis?
  • Are the procedures for statistical analysis provided?

Most likely, you would have covered these aspects during the writing stage. But perusing the logical flow becomes key when you re-read the paragraphs. Use these essential checklists to evaluate whether your Introduction and Methods sections are complete. If you are looking for expert support, check out Editage’s English Editing and Proofreading Services and submit confidently.
