Q: What does the status Editor Assigned mean after two revisions?
After two revisions, with minor comments in the second revision, my manuscript received an Editor Assigned status. What does it mean, and how long should I wait for the final decision?
After two revisions (the first major and the second minor), the Editor Assigned status means that the manuscript is with the Associate Editor (AE) to review the second round of changes and also the manuscript as a whole. Once the AE has completed their review, they will make their decision on the manuscript and communicate it to the Editor-in-Chief (EiC), changing the status to Decision in Process/Progress. The EiC makes the final decision on the manuscript. In some cases, the AE may again send the manuscript for peer review. As you can see, there are several stages involved even now, and may take a few more weeks. If however, you don’t see a status change in the next two or three weeks, you could write to the AE for an update. All the best!
