Q: How do I solve the problem of providing keywords during my submission to Materials Letters?
I am submitting to Materials Letters. As per the submission guidelines, a minimum of two keywords should be provided from the list of keywords recommended by the journal. However, I have already submitted five keywords in the manuscript data. Where else do I need to fill the keywords?
As per the author guide for Materials Letters (found here), you need to provide upto six keywords immediately after the abstract. For the complete guidelines regarding the keywords, see below.
“Immediately after the abstract, provide a maximum of 6 keywords, using American spelling and avoiding general and plural terms and multiple concepts (avoid, for example, 'and', 'of'). Be sparing with abbreviations: only abbreviations firmly established in the field may be eligible. These keywords will be used for indexing purposes.”
So, do ensure your keyword submission follows these guidelines. Additionally, you may look at other recent publications from the journal (found here) to get an idea of the right kind of keywords to provide. And for more insights on keywords, you may find the following resources useful.
- Have you chosen the right keywords for your research paper?
- Can we use words from the title of the paper as keywords?
- Should all my keywords be words or phrases mentioned in my paper or can I also use synonyms?
Hope that helps. All the best for your submission!
