Q: If an original text is converted to a figure, is citation still required?
When we make a presentation with PowerPoint etc., we cite a source if we reuse an original figure as it is. If we convert original texts to a figure for clearer understanding and use it (in that case, we do not use the original text itself), do I still have to cite a source?
It’s advisable to include a citation when the information you’re presenting is authored by someone else and is not common knowledge. Without examination of the text and the figure under consideration, it would be difficult to provide a definitive answer here, but we’d say it’s safer to include a citation in this case, since you are taking the information presented in text by another author and simply presenting it in graphical form.
