Q: In case of a 'Reject and Resubmit' decision, does the original word limit still apply to my manuscript?

Detailed Question -

I have received a mail for resubmitting my paper after a 'Reject and Resubmit' decision. The prescribed word limit for submission of the new article is 7000 words. Considering the required revisions, does the word limit still apply to my manuscript?

1 Answer to this question
Answer:

Firstly, unfortunate to know that your manuscript got rejected, but the good thing, as is clear, is that the door is still open. So, let’s see if we can help you get past it the second time around. :-)

To begin, the response to your query is actually quite simple. Yes, the original word limit stands. However, if you are not entirely sure, you may check what the author/submission guidelines say for original/resubmit manuscripts. If still not clear, you may also check with the editor, with whom you would no doubt have corresponded in the course of their review and decision. If mailing the editor, if you haven’t done so already, you may also decide to ask them the reasons for the initial rejection and what changes you may make (broad directions) to be able to fare better this time.

From our side, here are some relevant resources to help you with the second shot. We have also linked a communication template handbook (based on the communication suggestions we have made above) that you may find helpful.

Apart from the above, as you specifically asked about word count, and this is some ways is an editing matter, you may wish to consider any of our range of editing services. The review and editing involved in each of them is intended to increase your chances of acceptance. You may learn more about them here: Editage Editing Services

So, all the best for the second shot. Hope you fare better this time around! :-)
