Q: Is the "Under Editor Evaluation" status normal for Elsevier journals?

Detailed Question -

After submitting my manuscript to an Elsevier journal on 22 April, it was "Under Review" until 4 May, whereby the status date changed but the "Under Review" remained. On 25 May, the status then changed to "Under Editor Evaluation". Is this normal? Usually I would expect "Reviews Completed" followed by "Decision in Process". Is this standard practice for some Elsevier journals or is my manuscript in trouble since it is going on a different route? Thank you for your advice.

Answer:

Please do not worry about the manuscript’s review process. The status "Under Editor Evaluation" is quite usual and it generally means the reports from the peer reviewers have been received and the Editor of the journal is assessing the reports, prior to making the final decision on the submitted manuscript.

Hope this answers your query. Best wishes for your submission!
