Q: Is there any software that can do the formatting/writing for me in APA style?

Detailed Question -

I would like to use some software that can directly place all the text into a format like APA as I type it in the document. It will be much easier [for me]! I am too old to learn a format style now.

Answer:

Some software programs can be used to format references and citations. In case you are using Microsoft Word, you may find out how this can be done in Word here. Including citations in your document can also be done through a reference manager such as Zotero, which can be integrated into Word. You may find out more about Zotero (which is free to use) here.

That said, these programs and tools cannot apply all the requirements of a required formatting style (such as margins, heading styles, and font). Moreover, the applied formatting of references and citations will still need to be rechecked manually to ensure that any errors or exceptions are addressed. In case you wish to outsource this (along with a proofreading, editing, or even a review of your paper), you may find out more about our relevant services here: Editage Services

Hope that helps.

Now, if we may also respond to that last part (“I’m too old to learn a format style now”), firstly, that was forthright to note. :) Also, it reminded us of the following series shared by a researcher who was pursuing a PhD in her 50s along with a full-time profession. She had first shared a couple of stories that proved so engaging that it led to a webinar where she spoke of her PhD pursuit and its challenges in greater detail. The talk and the subsequent Q&A session, in turn, proved so absorbing that she separately responded to some more questions later.
