Every year, the scholarly community celebrates Open Access Week (also known as OA Week), a global event organized annually by the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC). The intention of OA Week is to make research more open, improve the visibility of scholarship, and accelerate research.

The event has a different theme every year to create awareness about a certain aspect of open access. The theme for OA Week 2018 is “designing equitable foundations for open knowledge,” which according to the OA Week website “reflects a scholarly system in transition.”

From October 22-28, OA Week will inspire the participation of individuals, institutions, and organizations across the globe in the form of various events such as workshops, presentations, seminars, conferences, discussions, etc.

As a supporter of OA Week, we at Editage Insights have organized an insightful webinar on the topic Open science developments every author needs to know, which will be in the form of a live panel discussion. It will feature well-known professionals from the publishing industry who will focus on interesting topics such as what open access actually means, what authors need to do to make science more open, and many other vital aspects about open access. The webinar is scheduled for October 25 and seats are filling up quickly. So don’t forget to block one for yourself! Click here to register.

Apart from this, make sure you follow us on Twitter (@Editage) as throughout OA Week we will be actively sharing with you the best of OA Week, be it interesting conversations, industry opinions, and more. You can also follow this year’s official hashtag #OAWeek18 to keep up with the goings-on during this week.
