Q: Can you help me understand the status of my manuscripts on ScholarOne?

Detailed Question -

The status of one of my manuscripts on ScholarOne is "ED: Not Assigned, GE: Not Assigned, Awaiting JM Checklist". What does it mean? The status of another manuscript is "ED: Freestone, Mark, GE: Not Assigned, and Awaiting Reviewer Selection."

1 Answer to this question
Answer:

In my opinion, ED in ScholarOne refers to Editor and GE refers to Guest Editor. Going by that assumption, the status of your first manuscript "ED: Not Assigned, GE: Not Assigned, Awaiting JM Checklist" means that no action has yet been taken on your paper. I'm not sure what JM checklist refers to, but my guess is that it refers to a journal requirement that you might not have met. Please check the author guidelines of the journal and ensure that you have provided all the documents they have asked for in the submission package.

For the other manuscript, the editor has been assigned and his name is Mark Freestone. This person is an in-house editor, therefore, a guest editor is not required. As per the status description, it seems that the manuscript's initial editorial screening is done and the editor is now looking for reviewers.
