1 Answer to this question

Answer: Significance of a study is why you decided to do that study and is often discussed in the Introduction, whereas the implications of a study are how useful your results are and are often discussed in the Discussion section.

Significance vs. Implications

  • Significance = Why the study matters: its importance, originality, and contribution to existing knowledge (justifies why it was worth doing).
  • Implications = What follows from the findings: the practical applications, recommendations, or future directions the results suggest.
