Q: What is the reason for status change from "With Editor" to "Decision in Process" within 5 weeks and after submitting the revised manusctipt?

Detailed Question -

Dear team First and foremost, thank you for running such an amazing platform that helps early-career researchers, like me, who always encounter novel issues even after publishing 10 papers!

I resubmitted my manuscript to a John Benjamins journal after doing reviewer comments, in full. It is worth noting despite major revisions, they were very positive and constructive. After 5 weeks, the status of the paper changed from "With Editor" to "Decision in Process". Does this mean a rejection, or can it be a system glitch, or anything else?

Thank you in advance

Kind regards

Answer:

Dear Author, thank you for your kind words. We’re truly grateful for your encouraging comments, as we’re committed to serving as authors’ partners on their publication journey. I would also like to congratulate you for the publication of your papers thus far and for the generally positive feedback you’ve received for your latest paper.

The current status of “decision in progress” needn’t indicate that the manuscript has been rejected; the journal may scrutinise resubmitted papers in greater detail, given that they’re a revised version, explaining the greater amount of time to share their decision with authors. You may follow up with the journal regarding the status of your paper if you don’t hear from them in a few weeks.

I wish you the very best and look forward to being of further assistance, if required!
