Q: Why does the status for a revised submission show "reviewer invited" if reviewers are already assigned?

Detailed Question -

I submitted my revised paper to the journal 12 days ago. I believe that the reviewers are already assigned at the time of the initial submission. However, the status is showing "reviewer invited." Why is it this way? Please give me your opinion.

Answer:

Generally, the process flow for a revised manuscript is the same as that of a new submission. Thus, even if the same reviewers are assigned for reviewing your revised submission, the journal will follow the usual procedures, such as a preliminary check, sending out review invitations, etc. These will get reflected in the status changes within the online submission system. The status for your paper indicates that the review invitations have been sent out. Once the reviewers accept the invitation, the status will change to "under review."
