You are invited to join Peer Review Week 2020 - It's bigger, it's better, it's unmissable!
The week of September 21-25, 2020 is going to be quite eventful this year! It’s Peer Review Week 2020, after all!
As you may know, Peer Review Week is the biggest event in scholarly publishing every year, bringing together researchers, peer reviewers, journal editors, science communicators, and other industry experts from all over the world. The theme for Peer Review Week 2020 is Trust in Peer Review – and is apt for the year. The COVID-19 crisis has challenged researchers since the start of the year, and has also made immense demands on peer reviewers and research publishers. What were these challenges? How have reviewers and publishers coped? What actions are stakeholders taking to ensure we continue reposing trust in the system? We plan to take a closer look at these and related topics all through Peer Review Week 2020.
As you may also know, Editage Insights has been closely associated with Peer Review Week since the last few years. Peer Review Week 2020 is poised to take our involvement one level higher, because this year, our parent organization, CACTUS, steps in as a proud member of the organizing committee. The conversations during Peer Review Week 2020 are therefore set to be even more holistic, looking at Trust in Peer Review from diverse angles.
- September 21, 2020: Day 1 of Peer Review Week 2020. What better way to kick off the event than with discussions on the impact of COVID-19 on the peer review system – and how the system has coped.
- September 22, 2020: On Day 2, discussions will revolve around the challenges that are weakening trust in the peer review process and what top journal peer reviewers need to do to build and sustain trust.
- September 23, 2020: Day 3 will have some more exciting discussions, this time revolving around the role of technology in helping authors be peer review ready. Is tech really making peer reviews smoother for researchers, reviewers, and editors alike? We shall find out soon.
- September 24, 2020: Day 4 is dedicated to training and development. The need for peer reviewer training, guidelines for writing honest and comprehensive peer review feedback, and tips to respond to peer review comments are just some of the things that we will be touching upon here.
- September 25, 2020: On the final day of Peer Review Week 2020, we will pull back and take a 360o look at the peer review system and processes and also have peer reviewers talking about their experiences. The perfect way to close the event.
