Video: A Checklist to Review the Results Section

The Results section is the key section that outlines all your study findings. This means that the section is likely to be data heavy. So, how do you effectively perform the final checks of the Results section in your research paper?

In this video, join our expert Bonnie Dixon as she guides you through a useful checklist.

  • Does the order of the content in the Results section correspond to that in the Methods?
  • Is the study purpose/objective addressed?
  • Are the participant demographics provided?
  • Are the findings supported by credible statistical analysis?
  • Do the figures and tables enhance reader understanding?
  • Are the data in figures/tables appear repetitive?

When the section is divided into appropriate sub-sections, ensure that they align with the points covered in the Methods section. Learn how best to check the figures and tables used; they must enhance, and not repeat, results in the text as repetition of content causes reader fatigue. Let your illustrations and tabular data only give those additional details that would be too lengthy to read in the manuscript.
