Q: Could you advise on writing a polite email to the editor about making a minor change to a revised manuscript?

Detailed Question -

I have resubmitted a manuscript after making revisions for peer review comments. However, I found that there was a mistake in the style of a figure (misalignment). So, I would like to inform the editor that I wish to make another revision [change]. Could you advise on writing a polite email to the editor?

Answer:

It’s great that you are paying such close attention to your manuscript. However, a mistake in the alignment of a figure is a minor issue. You needn’t worry that your manuscript may get rejected only for this reason. Also, if your manuscript is accepted, you may make this change at the proofing level, as we suggested in a similar situation earlier. Nevertheless, I can understand that you would like to submit a revised manuscript that is error-free as far as possible and would also like the editor to know this. So, you can go ahead and inform the editor and ask them if you can submit an updated manuscript.

About the tone, you can correspond just the way you have done here, as your present tone seems polite enough. If however, you still need, you may refer to some points in the below resources on how best to communicate with journal editors.
