Q: How can I resolve formatting issues to complete my submission?

Detailed Question -

I have completed the pdf building but I cannot complete the submission of my manuscript.

 1. I wrote a manuscript in MS Word, selected US letter and set all the margins to 2.54cm, but when I checked the pdf created under the "view submission" tab, the formatting was incorrecta nd a letter was pushed. Are there any settings I'm missing?

2. There is an error message displayed as "AQC error" after checking the figure's artwork quality. Message is as below

"One or more of your artwork files was not checked because the server was previously unavailable. Would you like to re-send these files to the artwork quality checking tool now?"

Every time I resent, I set the resolution to 300dpi or higher and the file size to 10MB or less. I think I have completed all the conditions. However, I cannot click "AQC error." It is not showing "Fail" but it keeps on being an error. It is really hard. I Googled all day and cannot get an answer to my question, so I contacted Editage ... Thank you

Here are the answers to your questions:

  1. Most journals have different specifications for different article types. Please carefully read the journal guidelines and set the manuscript format as per the article type. Ensure that you select the right article type in the submission system. Usually, the format of the PDF is pre-set by the journal and depends on the type of article. The PDF might also include additional elements like page and line numbers. Please check all the above points and if you still think the PDF format is incorrect, you should email the journal.
  2. Regarding the figures, please follow the journal guidelines for figure formatting in terms of size, resolution, and artboard size. These mismatches can often lead to AQC errors. If you are sure that the figures have been formatted to meet journal requirements and the AQC report is not a fail, you can go ahead and complete submission. You can either mention the artwork issue in your cover letter to the journal or send an email to the journal via the submission system.
