Q: Is it normal for the status to show "Ready for decision" for over two months?
I have submitted an article to the journal IJAR. The status of the article has been "Ready for decision" for two months and a few days. But, till date, I have not received any response. Is this normal?
It is not uncommon for the status to remain "Ready for decision" for more than two months. Delays at this stage happen mostly because the editor has a lot of papers lined up at his/her desk waiting for a decision. However, you should definitely send a reminder to the journal. Sometimes, when journals receive a high volume of submissions, some manuscripts might get deprioritized. In such cases, a reminder from the author can nudge the editor into action. Keep sending follow up emails from time to time, say every 2-3 weeks till you get a response. Good luck!
