Q: If my manuscript status changes quickly, does it mean it will be rejected?

Detailed Question -

I submitted my manuscript 3 weeks ago and the status changed from awaiting reviewer selection to awaiting EIC decision. Because of such a short time, does it mean that my manuscript will be rejected? Thank you.

Answer:

Thank you for your query. We understand that the status of your manuscript submission has been updated within 3 weeks and you’re anxious if this implies that the manuscript will be rejected. Please note, different journals have varying periods of peer review. This status only implies that the reviewer has reviewed the manuscript and given a decision to the editor and now the editor in chief will get back to you on the final decision. The time taken for the status to get updated does not imply that your manuscript will be rejected. We would suggest that you wait for the journal to get back with the final decision.
